Arbitration process and allotted times
Manuscripts submitted to Huitzil Revista Mexicana de Ornitología should contain original information, which has not been published or is not submitted for publication to another journal. Authors interested in submitting manuscripts to the journal need to register on the OJS platform, and should prepare manuscripts following the editorial guidelines set out in Instructions to Authors.
Relevance of manuscripts is evaluated by the Chief Editor and if the subject of the manuscript is not appropriate for the journal, or the format and presentation of the manuscript is not adequate, it will be returned to the corresponding author without continuing the review process.
Manuscripts considered suitable for the journal are assigned to an Associate Editor to coordinate the peer review process, however the Associate Editor may also reject the manuscript after an initial review. Following peer review, the Associate Editor may take into consideration the reviewers comments to formulate and submit an opinion and recommendation. The Editor in Chief will make the final decisión of acceptance, rejection, or major or minor revisions for the manuscript that will be communicated to the Corresponding Author.
Where major or minor revisions are requested, the authors should revise their manuscript taking into account all the recommendations made by revieweres and editors. Revisions of the manuscript should be undertaken within 30 days of notification of a decisión, although the Corresponding Author may request an extensión of time to complete their revisions. The revised manuscript may be resent for peer review as considered necessary.
